1.Before you start

You need three things: a YouTube video URL, a browser, and a device connected to the internet. No app install, no account, no payment. YTMP3Pro runs entirely in the browser at the top of the homepage.

Make sure you have the right to convert the video. Your own uploads, Creative Commons content, public domain works, and openly licensed audio are all fine. Commercial music without permission is not, even if enforcement is rare. Read our legal guide for the details.

Know what quality you want before you start. For music, 320kbps gives you the best the MP3 format can do. For voice content like podcasts and lectures, 192kbps or 128kbps saves storage without hurting the listening experience.

2.Step-by-step on desktop (Windows and Mac)

Step 1: Open YouTube in your browser and find the video you want. Click the address bar, select the entire URL, and copy it with Ctrl+C on Windows or Cmd+C on Mac. You can also click Share under the video and use Copy link.

Step 2: Open YTMP3Pro in a new tab. Scroll to the converter at the top of the homepage. Click the input box and paste the URL with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V. The tool accepts standard youtube.com URLs, short youtu.be links, and YouTube Shorts links.

Step 3: Select MP3 as the format. The format toggle is right next to the input box. If you also want video, you can switch to MP4 instead.

Step 4: Pick your bitrate. The dropdown shows 320, 256, 192, 128, and 64 kbps. Choose 320 for music, 192 or 128 for voice, and 64 only for tiny voice clips where size matters more than quality.

Step 5: Click Convert. The tool fetches the video metadata and extracts the audio track. Most songs finish in 2 to 5 seconds. When the download button appears, click it and the MP3 saves to your browser's default download folder.

3.Converting on iPhone and iPad

Step 1: Open the YouTube app or youtube.com in Safari. Find the video, tap Share, and choose Copy link. The URL is now on your clipboard.

Step 2: Open Safari and go to YTMP3Pro. Tap the converter input box, then tap Paste when the iOS paste menu appears. The YouTube link fills in.

Step 3: Pick MP3 and your bitrate. Tap Convert. The tool processes the request the same way it does on desktop.

Step 4: When the download button appears, tap it. Safari asks where to save the file. Choose Downloads, or save directly to the Files app in a folder you pick. The MP3 lands there in a few seconds.

Step 5: To play the file, open the Files app, find your MP3, and tap it. iOS opens it in the built-in audio player. You can also move it into the Music app using a Mac, or use a third-party player like VLC on iOS to organize your library.

4.Converting on Android

Step 1: Open the YouTube app. Find the video, tap Share, and tap Copy link. The URL is on your clipboard.

Step 2: Open Chrome or your preferred browser. Go to YTMP3Pro. Tap the input box, then tap Paste when Android offers it. The link appears.

Step 3: Choose MP3 and your bitrate. Tap Convert. Processing happens on our servers, so even older phones handle this fine.

Step 4: When the download button shows, tap it. Chrome downloads the MP3 to your Downloads folder. A notification appears in the status bar when the download finishes.

Step 5: Open the Files app on Android, look in Downloads, and tap the MP3 to play it. To set it as a ringtone, move the file to your Ringtones folder using a file manager, then choose it in Settings > Sound > Ringtone.

5.Picking the right bitrate

320kbps is the maximum the MP3 format supports. Use it for music, especially on decent headphones or speakers. File size is about 8 MB per minute of audio, so a 4-minute song lands around 32 MB.

192kbps is the sweet spot for voice content. Podcasts, lectures, interviews, and audiobooks all sound clean at this bitrate, and you save about 40 percent on file size versus 320.

128kbps works for voice when storage is tight. Music starts to sound slightly compressed — high frequencies lose detail, cymbals get a swishy quality — but it is fine for casual listening on phone speakers.

64kbps is voice-only territory. Music sounds noticeably degraded. Use it only when you need the smallest possible file, like an audio clip for a notification sound. Our full bitrate guide walks through the tradeoffs in more detail.

6.Common errors and how to fix them

Video not found. The video might be private, age-restricted, deleted, or region-locked. Try another video, or sign in to YouTube in a separate tab if the video is age-restricted.

Download did not start. Your browser may have blocked the file. Check the address bar for a blocked-download warning, allow the download, and try again. Ad blockers sometimes interfere with download buttons — pause the blocker if a button does not respond.

MP3 sounds bad. You probably picked a low bitrate, or the source video has poor audio. Switch to 320kbps. If the source itself sounds bad, no bitrate will fix it.

iPhone file disappeared. Check the Files app under Downloads, or under the location you chose when Safari prompted you. If you cannot find it, redo the conversion and watch where Safari saves the file.
